Current Employment
Tim Groom Architects (June 2014 to Present)
Employed at Tim Groom Architects for over 8 years and holding the position of Associate since 2015. My role includes acting as a senior project running Architect which has included design and delivery of several acclaimed projects
I have led a range of projects from concept to completion across multiple sectors including residential, student residential, commercial office and hotels. This has included a mix of new build and refurbishment including a listed building.
With a 221-bed student and Co-living development recently completed successfully, my current work includes three projects under construction; a 214 BTR apartment development in Leatherhead, a 195 affordable Rent to Buy apartments in Liverpool and a 73-bedroom hotel extension in Blackpool.
I have fostered strong client and team relationships which allows smooth running of projects and has led to several repeat clients and further business development opportunities.
One of my personal focus points is to strive for the highest quality design which I believe manifests itself through both a strong concept along with attention to materiality and details from project inception to completion.
My core responsibilities as Associate within the practice include leading technical reviews of projects across the office. These reviews are carried out at key work stages and milestones as well as ad hoc workshops to assist in resolving key details or the integration of materials into a project. I have also implemented a series of templates and procedures to support these review processes.
I am experienced at managing a large team within the office often split across several projects. As with any practice, this often includes balancing competing deadlines to ensure client satisfaction while maintaining the quality of design and attention to detail.
I regularly support the Part II Architectural Assistants within the practice and have acted as mentor to 10 students who have successfully passed their Part III exams. I’m currently mentoring a further 3 candidates who are intending to sit their exam in March 2023.
In addition to supporting the practice candidates with their studies, I have been invited to The Manchester School of Architecture as a guest tutor, helping 5th year Continuity in Architecture students during workshops and one to one sessions.
